Trade Disputes and Trade Unions Act, 1927

Programme for a demonstration against the Act, organised by the National Trade Union Defence Committee (formed by the TUC and Labour Party).

The Act banned civil service trade unions from belonging to the TUC. Union members also had to contract-in to pay the political levy; general strikes and other sympathetic action were forbidden, and there were restrictions on picketing. The Act remained in force until 1946.
