Race relations in East London - TUC statement, 1978

Following racist violence in the East End of London, Len Murray (TUC General Secretary) and Bill Keys (Chair of the TUC Equal Rights Committee) visited Brick Lane in August 1978 to meet the Bethnal Green and Stepney Trades Council, representatives of the local Asian community and other residents. The TUC then issued this statement in English, Bengali, Hindi and Urdu condemning the racial attacks and the activities of the National Front in particular.
