On 22 September, 1982 the TUC organised a Day of Action in support of health unions in their pay dispute. There was strike action by health workers, and sympathetic action by other unions. Following the intervention of the Advisory Conciliation and Arbitration Service [ACAS], an agreement was reached and normal working resumed in December.
