'The tragedy of the woman worker', 1912

This pamphlet, subtitled 'Wages and the White Slave Traffic', was written by H. D. Roberts, Minister of the Hope Street Church in Liverpool and published by the Liverpool Anti-Sweating League about 1912. It proposes that the Trade Board Acts and minimum wages be extended to the so-called sweated trades in which many women were employed and suggests that many women were forced into prostitution by their low incomes.
