Demonstration at Ham Hill, Yeovil, Somerset on Whit-Monday, 1877 addressed by Joseph Arch (standing centre on platform). Arch was President of the National Agricultural Labourers' Union (NALU). Other speakers identified on the platform are (2) George Mitchell, NALU organiser and trustee, (5) Mr King, London Trades Council, (7) Stephen Price, (8) Rev. W. Jubb, Bristol, (9) Mr Winter, Somerset union delegate, (11) Tom Halliday, secretary of the Amalgamated Association of Miners.
The song "To see the thousands on Ham Hill" was frequently sung at Labourers' meetings in the 1870s.
