TUC weekend school for women, Whitley Bay, 1935

From 1932, as part of its education programme, the TUC organised weekend schools around the country for trade unionists nominated by local trades councils.

In June 1935, the Women's Advisory Committee organised this school for 40 women trade unionists from the Newcastle area. Topics covered included : "The story of trade unionism"; "Women's place in industry"; " Youth and their place in trade unions".
