Women war worker in munitions industry, 1943

This photograph of a woman working at a grinding machine making guns and gun mountings is taken from 2 large volumes of photographs published by the Ministry of Labour and National Service in 1943. The volumes, entitled "Women in Engineering; a dilution handbook" were intended to convince employers that women could be employed "on a range of work not usually considered within their scope".
