The Zinoviev letter: the case for a full investigation 1928

This pamphlet written by W.P. Coates with a preface by James Maxton of the Independent Labour Party was published by the Anglo-Russian Parliamentary Committee in1928. In October 1924, MI5 intercepted a letter written by Grigory Zinoviev, chairman of the Comintern in the Soviet Union in which he urged British communists to promote revolution through acts of sedition. The publication of the letter in various national newspapers is thought to have contributed to the defeat of the Labour Party in the 1924 General Election. The TUC sent a delegation to the Soviet Union in 1924 to investigate the authenticity of the Letter and concluded that it was a forgery.
