Special Conference on Labour and the Russian – Polish War, August 1920

Report of the Special Conference on Labour and the Russian-Polish war in Central Hall, Westminster on 13 August 1920. The Russian-Polish War of 1919-1921 was a conflict over territory in present-day Ukraine and Belarus. The conference was organised by the Council of Action, comprising the TUC, Labour Party and Parliamentary Labour Party. Resolutions called for no military intervention in support of Poland, including the withdrawal of the British naval blockade, and recognition of the Soviet government. The conference authorised the Council of Action to call for a withdrawal of labour if necessary and to raise a levy across unions to pay for its work.
