Arrested trade union leaders, Batoum, Georgia 1920

This postcard, brought back by the 1924 TUC Delegation to Russia, carries a handwritten label on the reverse:
“Trade union leaders in Batoum, arrested by the British authorities on 08/05/1920. Accompanied by military guards, they were transported to Constantinople on a light cruiser named “Carodoc”, where they were put in an English prison”. British forces moved into Batoum or Batumi in December 1918 and remained there until July 1920 when the area was ceded to the Soviet Union.
