'Civil Liberty and the Industrial Worker', 1942

This pamphlet, written by Angela Tuckett and published by the National Council for Civil Liberties, concentrates on industrial conscription and the restrictions imposed on workers by the Essential Works Orders and other Defence Regulations or emergency powers. It also looks at safeguarding factories and other workplaces against bomb damage, sabotage and spies. Some employers had organised routine searches of workers or forbidden the distribution of left-wing or union literature, while others had prevented involvement in the Home Guard or introduced fire-watching rotas without consultation.
